Ashberry Homes has unveiled two new showhomes to mark the launch of the third and final phase of its Cherry Meadow development in Hatton, Derbyshire.

Show Business Interiors were tasked with creating a design scheme with multi-generational appeal that also showcased the potential for transforming living spaces into dedicated work from home zones.

Sian Jenkins from the interior design company explains how they achieved it.

The rise in homeworking has already become one of the defining features of the new decade. A growing trend that was hugely accelerated by the pandemic, working from home looks set to be a permanent feature of the post-covid world.

Such a shift has been reflected in the changing priorities of today’s housebuyer. As well as having a property with a large garden and a spacious kitchen, more and more buyers are looking for somewhere that offers a suitable and comfortable space for homeworking.

Housebuilders and interior designers are already responding to this shift in priorities. It’s why Ashberry Homes asked Show Business Interiors to make work from home zones an integral feature of their two new showhomes at Cherry Meadow in Hatton, Derbyshire.

The three-bedroom Leighfield and four-bedroom Watling both feature spaces which have been specifically designed to provide a home office or study which enables homeowners to separate family and work life.

“The second bedroom in the Leighfield features a fantastic home office area, custom built by us to fit in to the alcove”, explained Sian Jenkins from Show Business Interiors.

“Meanwhile, the final bedroom in the Watling features a full-size day bed and a zoned office area with clever use of colour and paint bands to achieve a work from home space.”

Aside from the working from home areas, both properties include contemporary colour schemes with multi-generational appeal.

Sian said: “We designed the Leighfield house with a palette of ivory, taupe and accents of clay tones grounded with bitter chocolate accents. The look and feel are tonal and textural, and this home is multi-generational in its appeal.

“The lounge features three windows which really fill the room with light, and the master bedroom has detailed high panelling behind the headboard with a shelf edge for contemporary artwork to sit.”

The four-bedroom Watling is a three-storey property which has a dual-aspect living room with French doors leading to the rear garden and an open-plan kitchen-dining room. On the first floor are three bedrooms and a family bathroom, while the top storey is taken up by the master bedroom with en suite bathroom.

Sian said: “With this property we started with a neutral tonal textured wallpaper that has an ivory base and we layered it with tones of green and soft blush. Detailed painted panelling really brings the living room to life and shows off the space on offer in the lounge. The large bespoke round footstool is layered with a white and grey marble coffee table to form a functional and usable set up in the centre of the room.

“We have added depth to the main wall in the master suite with a classic pussy willow print in deep charcoal base tones. A bespoke headboard and bed frame in softer grey gives a real boutique feel and the softer accent tones are then pulled through in to the scatter cushions and throw featured on the bed.

“The guest room has a lovely, serene feel to it and the third double room, designed for a teenage girl, is again very spacious and has lots of personality.”

Fiona Bray, Sales Manager for Ashberry Homes, said: “Because working from home has become such a major feature of modern life we wanted to showcase how the space in our homes can be used for this very purpose.

“The team at Show Business Interiors have done an exceptional job in creating two very different working from home zones inside our two showhomes, demonstrating just two of the ways in which our properties can be tailored to meet the needs of the work from home generation.”

Ashberry Homes is building 120 homes in the third and final phase of its Cherry Meadow development, off Station Road. A total of 257 properties will have been delivered at the site by the time construction work is completed next year.

The first homes in phase three have now been released onto the market. A selection of two, three and four-bedroom homes from the third phase of the development are currently available, with prices starting from £201,950.
