Local housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes has officially kickstarted the spring and summer, having brought together new homeowners at its Richmond Park development in Whitfield through a spring floristry workshop for residents. The housebuilder, who is behind the development on Richmond Way, partnered with local florist, Ziggy Florist, to host the free event on Sunday 4th June.

Research highlights that one in 20 people have never spoken to their neighbours[1]. To help foster a strong new community and bring the local community together in time for the warmer weather, the workshop was hosted in the show home at Richmond Park, and was led by florist Sonia, owner of Ziggy Florist, who demonstrated to residents how to create their own outdoor planter and hanging baskets for their gardens. Attendees were treated to an array of colourful flowers, flowerpots, and hanging baskets, guided by Sonia to plant together with other residents.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt David Wilson Kent, comments: “As a respectable housebuilder, our aim is to not only build houses, but also create new and thriving communities for people to make lifelong friendships at. Holding a floristry workshop was a great opportunity to bring together the local community, who were able learn some simple gardening tips in time for summer, but more importantly be able to interact with their neighbours and build new meaningful friendships. We are very grateful to Sonia from Ziggy Florists who hosted a fantastic workshop and has hopefully inspired a creative flair at Richmond Park!”

Sonia from Ziggy Florist adds: “Belonging to a community positively impacts our health physically, but also mentally, which is why events hosted by organisations such as David Wilson Kent are so important in bringing people together. It was amazing meeting so many residents who attended our floristry workshop, with many being able to learn a new skill, meet new faces, and appreciate the art of floristry. I was really impressed in how quickly the residents picked things up and were beginning to share ideas with each other. I cannot wait to soon see many flowers planted across Richmond Park residents’ lawns over the summer.”

Barratt David Wilson Kent is currently offering new homes at its Richmond Park development in Whitfield, Kent, with a range of three and four-bedroom homes now available. Prices start at £312,995 for a three-bedroom home.
