IT had to be new for Andy and Nicky when they decided to buy a house together in Burscough.

Lighting designer Andy had been living in Ormskirk and estate agent Nicky in Wigan before they bought their new Anwyl home at Priory Gardens in Burscough.

Andy said: “We capitalised on the boom in property prices post-Covid and sold both of our properties so that we could move in together. We’d both had old houses, but I’d lived in a new build previously and so wanted a new home.

“We’d looked at other new builds locally before deciding to buy a new Anwyl home at Priory Gardens. Their team have been absolutely brilliant all the way through, even though we had a little hiccup when the sale of my house fell through four times. I’d 100% recommend Anwyl.”

They opted for a four-bedroom detached Ascot style property with southwest facing garden, which enjoys the sun all afternoon.

“We wanted somewhere bigger so there was space for both of our boys who’ve left school and have jobs of their own and aren’t with us full time. There’s a good size living room for us all to sit in, but we normally spend a lot of the time in the combined kitchen and dining room,” Andy explained.

“We’ve also just added a garden room with a pool table and dart board. It’s like having an extra room to the house. Three of the bedrooms are a decent size and I use the smaller one as my office for working from home.”

There’s also a handy utility and cloakroom on the ground floor, while upstairs the main bedroom has an en-suite to complement the family bathroom.

Andy, 50, and Nicky, 51, had previously lived on main roads so are finding it much quieter since moving into a cul-de-sac.

“My old house needed a new roof, the garden digging up and starting over again, plus lots of other jobs,” Andy added.

“Buying a new build home meant we didn’t have to worry about things like that. Plus we could put our own mark on the house by choosing things like the kitchen, which we upgraded adding quartz worktops. We’ve also had extra sockets fitted where we wanted them and had a patio laid in the garden. Plus, because everything’s brand new, it’s covered by warranties and guarantees.”

Current availability at Priory Gardens includes a choice of three and four-bedroom homes, with prices from £293,995 for a three-bedroom detached Bunbury. An Ascot, like Andy and Nicky’s is available from £384,995.

Show homes at Priory Gardens, on Liverpool Road South, Burscough, are open daily from 10am to 5.30pm.
