Homebuilder shows support of local skatepark revamp project

Local Homebuilder, David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, has backed the initiative to construct a new pump track in Burley in Wharfedale with a £500 donation, as part of its efforts to invest into the local area.

The project, which is already backed by Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust and the Parish Council, aims to replace the current skate park at the rear of the recreation ground with a specially designed pump track that will act as both a playground and a training facility for bikers, skateboarders or scooter riders of all skill levels and ages. David Wilson Homes’ donation will go towards fundraising efforts to bring the project to life and provide a space for the community to gather and make use of.

The Homebuilder, which is currently working on new development named Centurion Meadows in the area, has invested upwards of £5 million into Burley and Wharfedale as part of both contributions to the local authority and charitable causes including Burley Trojans Football Club, Wharfedale Wombles and Ilkley Lawn and Tennis Club.

Speaking on the donation, Gavin Birch, Managing Director at David Wilson Homes Yorkshire West, comments:  “Investing in local communities is a vital part of our work and it’s key that residents have ample recreational opportunities to enjoy downtime in. We’re delighted to be part of the efforts to bring the pump track to Burley in Wharfedale and hope we see the project come to fruition in the near future.”

Duncan Ault, Chair of Burley in Wharfedale Community Trust says:  “A huge thank you to David Wilson Homes for showing their support of the pump track project. Community spaces should be inclusive and offer something exciting and enticing to users and this project is designed to do just that, giving residents of all abilities and skill levels a chance to make use of the space. We want to deliver the best possible options to the local community and having the support of businesses like David Wilson Homes is a key part of making that happen.”
