Barratt Homes has recently handed over its most recent Section 106 funding to Dover District Council (DDC). The funds, totalling £208,000, were agreed as part of the ongoing development at Aylesham Village, with the next Barratt Kent phase of the development due to launch later in the year.

The most recent payment by Barratt Homes is £208,000, which will be invested into the local economy over the next few years. This will include: £169,772 toward adult social services, £3,807 for independent living technology which will help vulnerable people improve independence, £28,234 toward libraries, and finally, £7,192 toward the Special Protection Area (SPA). Since work on the site began, the wider consortium at Aylesham Village has previously invested £5,832,030 into public services for a growing community such as education, highways, and healthcare.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt Kent, comments: “As a sustainable housebuilder that is creating new homes to live in across Kent, we want to be able to work with, and not against, local communities when building in their areas. That is why we have worked hard to stimulate the economy in Aylesham over the past few years and are delighted that we have been able to officially mark the next instalment in our community investment commitments. When we build, we invest in the communities and people that will be affected by our developments to help all aspects of that chosen area flourish in the long term. Over the next few years, we will continue to work with a diverse community groups across Aylesham as well as investing in the surrounding infrastructure.”

Aylesham Village is ideally situated between Canterbury and Dover, with the development home to a small number of shops, post office, leisure centre, health centre and supermarket. Excellent transport links include quick access to the A2 via A260 in six minutes as well as the M2 within 26 minutes. Aylesham itself offers a close-knit community made up of several churches, a library and two primary schools perfect for families: St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School and Aylesham Primary School. A free Kent Wildlife Trust family membership is offered to all purchasers at Aylesham Village to make the most of the Kent countryside.
