ANWYL Homes is embracing green technology to provide energy efficient new homes in Heywood.

As part of a drive to create energy efficient new homes within sustainable communities, homes at Whittle Brook Park boast a host of features designed to help protect the planet and save homeowners’ money. These include air source heat pumps, solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.

John Grime, managing director for Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “Whittle Brook Park is a landmark scheme for Anwyl – it was our first development in Greater Manchester and the first to feature air source heat pumps with every home. It’s a prime example of how, as a forward-thinking business, we’re embracing new green technology into our designs to deliver energy efficient homes. The whole development will be gas-free and, instead of traditional gas boilers, homes will have air source heat pumps.

“An air source heat pump is more efficient than a gas boiler and, according to the latest data from Which, potentially cheaper when it comes to providing heating and hot water in the home. Plus, if gas prices continue to rise quicker than electricity prices, the saving could increase.”

Homes at Whittle Brook Park will also boast wider cavities to external walls and improved air tightness, which provides increased levels of insulation and reduces heat loss, along with increased levels of ground floor and roof / loft insulation.

Located on Manchester Road, Whittle Brook Park will eventually feature 120 homes across almost 15 acres of land.

Currently being sold “off plan” with show homes due to open in the autumn, the development offers a choice of three, four and five-bedroom mews, semi-detached and detached homes. The bespoke designs include taller windows, steeper roof pitches with slate-grey tiles, feature chimneys and brickwork, and anthracite grey doors and windows.

Energy efficient light fittings are included throughout, as are water efficient fixtures and fittings to help reduce water usage.

Current prices start from £320,000 for a three-bedroom semi-detached property.

Work is progressing well, with four-bedroom detached homes, priced from £419,995 set to be ready to move into this September.

Matthew Gould, sales director for Anwyl Homes Lancashire, said: “There’s no doubt energy efficiency has rocketed up homebuyers’ priority lists as fuel bills have increased. New houses will save homeowners £180 per month on their fuel bills or £2,200 a year, according to HBF research.

“Our homes at Whittle Brook Park are being built to new standard for building regulations (Part L), which means even better energy efficiency and potentially a further reduction in household bills. People are more familiar with a traditional gas boiler, but perhaps aren’t aware that an air source heat pump is more efficient and produces lower carbon emissions.”

Matthew explained: “In simple terms, an air source heat pump works like a fridge but in reverse. Heat from the air outside is absorbed and converted into useable energy by circulating and compressing it to raise the temperature. The heat generated is then used to heat the home, including radiators and hot water.”

The energy efficient features mean the homes qualify for “green mortgages”, available from selected lenders. Anwyl can put buyers in touch with independent financial advisors with access to the whole mortgage market to help them access the best mortgage products and rates available.

Whittle Brook Park is part of the wider West Hopwood community which will see around 1,000 new homes built, plus the creation of 1.5 million square feet of employment space, a local centre, new primary school, extensive public open space and sports pitches.

The wider scheme will see £402 million invested in the area.

As part of its share, Anwyl will make community contributions worth almost £5.5m towards education, transport, highways, green spaces and sports pitches. This includes over £2.7 million towards the cost of the new link road, connecting the West Hopwood community directly with junction 19 of the M62.

The sales office at Whittle Brook Park is open Thursday to Monday from 10am to 5.30pm. For more information see https://www.anwylhomes.co.uk/our-developments/whittlebrookpark.
