With Wimbledon fever circulating throughout the country, Canterbury local tennis star Ruben Harris has also aced the summer season with a sponsorship from local housebuilder Barratt David Wilson Homes, who are behind The Woodlands development in Sturry and Saxon Fields development in Thanington.

A key representation for wheelchair tennis, Canterbury’s very own Ruben Harris has already been consistently rising through the ranks throughout his career, being currently placed 15th in the world in his age group. From topping the wheelchair tennis medal tally in Loughborough’s School Games National Finals to reaching the semi-finals at the Knokke Junior Open Grade Boys’ Singles in Belgium recently, Harris is a growing international force to be reckoned with. Barratt David Wilson Kent’s £4,000 sponsorship will aid travel expenses, including the purchase of a brand-new kit for a whole year, allowing Harris to continue his competitive career nationally but also globally and be Kent’s rising star.

Natalie Perry, Sales and Marketing Director for Barratt David Wilson Kent, comments: “As a local housebuilder, we have been following Ruben’s amazing career and have been in awe of his achievements. We feel lucky to be able to see a local young person from Canterbury achieve so much and in such little time and we are looking forward to seeing what Ruben can achieve this year.  As we build in Canterbury and the wider Kent area, it is our duty to support those who have real talent and are representing the county. We wish Ruben the best of luck for the next year and are excited to see where goes on his travels!”

Ruben Harris adds: “I would like to say a big thank you to Barratt David Wilson Kent for their generous sponsorship and inviting me down to see The Woodlands development in Sturry this month. I thrive off the backing and goodwill of my local community, and it is with these businesses support that I am able to travel around the world and pursue my dreams. These next few years are incredibly important for my journey and I am sure the new and improved kit will help me be at the top of my game!

Barratt David Wilson Kent has a selection of homes available at The Woodlands development in Sturry and Saxon Fields development in Thanington, with a range of three and four-bedroom homes now available to view. Prices start at £349,995 for a three-bedroom home at The Woodlands.
