FIRST time buyers in Worcestershire could find they’re able to spread their wings and fly the nest to a new home in Abberley with help from Elan Homes.

As the final countdown of new homes at Three Js continues, the homebuilder is offering a move-enabling ‘mortgage paid for a year’ incentive, worth up to £12,000.

It’s available on selected two-bedroom Ledbury style homes, priced from £285,000.

Elan regional sales director Tracey Ball said: “There are more adults living at home with their parents in Worcester than a decade ago, according to figures from the Office for National Statistics. We expect that to be the case across the county. For many, staying at home is a means to an end in that they’re saving for a deposit rather than wasting money on rent. While our offer of covering mortgage payments for a year on selected homes isn’t exclusive to first time buyers, it could be the boost that those starting out need to make that crucial first step onto the housing ladder.”

The two-bedroom Ledbury is perfect for would-be home owners, with a spacious layout and room to grow. On the ground floor, there’s a lounge at the front, a combined kitchen and dining room at the rear, with French doors opening out onto the rear garden, plus a cloakroom.

Upstairs, one of the bedrooms boasts an en-suite, effectively leaving the main bathroom to serve the other bedroom.

All of Elan’s new homes in Abberley achieve a minimum Energy Performance Certificate rating of B. This makes them among the most efficient homes on the market. It also means they’re eligible for green mortgages. Available from selected lenders, these tend to offer more favourable interest rates than regular mortgages.

“Moving to a new build home has the potential for long term savings thanks to a range of energy efficient features,” Tracey added. “Research by the HBF suggests the gap between the cost of running a new home and an older one is increasing. They predict that when the energy price guarantee increases in April those living in a new house could pay £3,100 a year less than those in older properties.”

Along with the Ledbury, the other homes available at Three js include a three-bedroom semi-detached Brocton, priced from £290,000, and a two-bedroom Haywood style bungalow, from £310,000.

Located on Clows Top Road, homes at Three Js are only a short drive away from the Malvern Hills and the spa town of Malvern, and close to Stourport-on-Severn, Bewdley and Kidderminster.
