Disadvantaged children's charity, KidsOut has received a boost to its Christmas initiative thanks to a generous donation from 5 Star Homebuilder, Barratt Developments Yorkshire West

Members of the team from Barratt Developments Yorkshire West played Father Christmas this December by taking part in the ‘Giving Tree’ initiative to support disadvantaged children.

The ‘Giving Tree’ from KidsOut aims to continuously make a difference to children and provide presents to those not fortunate enough to receive them every year. In the lead up to Christmas, decorative tags with a child's name, age and suggested gift have been placed on Barratt Development Yorkshire West Christmas tree at its Head Office in Morley. Barratt employees were encouraged to choose a gift tag from the Giving Tree and buy a present for a child, to be collected by the KidsOut team ahead of Christmas Day.

The Homebuilder regularly supports KidsOut throughout the year, most recently its annual Question of Sport Event which raised over £100,000 and funded a sensory room at The John Smith’s Stadium, the home of Huddersfield Town Football Club.

On the donation, Gordon Moulds from KidsOut said: “Barratts Developments Yorkshire West are KidsOut most successful supporters, and I cannot thank them enough. As a result of their donation, we were able to deliver over 10,000 toys to disadvantaged children in Yorkshire this Christmas and to provide a toy box, cinema ticket and a £20 food voucher to every family in refuge.

“The support that Barratt Developments Yorkshire West have given enabled KidsOut to support every child escaping serious domestic violence in Yorkshire - this is a staggering achievement.”

Ian Ruthven, Managing Director Barratt Developments Yorkshire West, commented: “The ‘Giving Tree’ initiative is a fantastic initiative and as Christmas is a time to bring people together and spread festive cheer, we’re very happy to be able to help KidsOut give gifts to children that may have otherwise not received presents this year.”

Barratt Developments Yorkshire West’s Head Office is also a collection point for donations to KidsOut. Schools, businesses and organisations are invited to drop off unwrapped gift donations this December at Barratt and David Wilson Homes, Raynham House, 2 Capitol Blvd, Morley, Leeds LS27 0WH.
