Local housebuilder Dandara has planted over 500 trees at its St Michael’s Park development in Stewkley in honour of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee which will be celebrated from Thursday 2nd of June until Sunday 5th of June.

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a meaningful tree planting activity created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. The activity encourages people all across the United Kingdom to “Plant a Tree for the Jubilee”. Everyone is welcomed to engage in this activity and is encouraged to play their part to enhance the environment during the official planting season between October 2021 and March 2022.

Focusing on planting sustainably and considering nature, The Queen’s Green Canopy aims to create a legacy for future generations by encouraging the planting of trees to mark the Queen’s 70 years of service.

Simon Pendlebury, Managing Director at Dandara Northern Home counties commented: “It is a privilege to be celebrating Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee through the Queen’s Green Canopy Scheme. We prioritise open green spaces and planting trees wherever possible at our developments, so we are pleased to have planted over 500 trees at our St Michael’s Park development in honour of this historic occasion. We hope that our residents will enjoy the greenery around them!”

A representative from the Queen’s Green Canopy scheme, commented: “The mission for The Queens Green Canopy is to encourage collaboration and sustainability within our communities. We are delighted to recognise Dandara for the contributions it has made towards the planting project and are thankful to the many people who have taken part in this celebration of the Queens Platinum Jubilee.”
