WORK on phase two of a regeneration scheme in Hatherleigh is underway after Kingswood Homes acquired a second parcel of land in the Devon town.

Redevelopment of the former cattle market site has been ongoing since late 2019.

Now known as The Market Quarter, once complete the 4.95 hectare scheme will feature 100 homes, a community market and pavilion building, plus children’s play areas.

To date 54 homes have been sold, with 27 of them now occupied.

Kingswood Homes managing director Paul Jones said: “A year after we opened the show homes at The Market Quarter we’re celebrating another milestone – acquiring the remainder of this landmark site, including the land for the new market square that will be the centrepiece of the development.

“Local people have a real affection for the site and have been watching with interest as the development progresses. We’ve already started work on homes in the second phase and eager buyers have been reserving the properties at the earliest opportunity. We planned the mix of properties – everything from apartments and bungalows to family-sized homes – based on feedback from a public consultation. The demand we’ve seen already reflects that we’ve addressed a local housing need by providing something for buyers on every rung of the housing ladder.”

A number of electric vehicle charging points are being provided across the site.

Kingswood Homes will make a contribution to the local authority towards education to support the growth of the neighbourhood.

Homes at The Market Quarter are available using Kingswood’s industry-leading Shape Your Home concept. This allows buyers to select from a choice of house types based on the external design and footprint and then customise the internal layout by choosing from a number of different floor plans.
