AS work to redevelop part of a golf course site in Tameside continues, Elan Homes is preparing to swing into action and release the first properties for sale.

The Cheshire-based homebuilder acquired a 2.78 acre disused parcel of land that was formerly part of Dukinfield Golf Club earlier in the year.

Along with building homes, Elan has been building a database of potential purchasers with more than 110 people having registered an interest in living at Greenside View.

Homes in the first phase are due to be released for sale ‘off plan’ from the autumn.

Marie Morris, sales director for Elan Homes in the North, said: “Greenside View is an exciting new development, offering a choice of three and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes designed to address local housing need. It’s a fairly intimate scheme of just 33 homes and we’ve received more than three times as many enquiries as there are homes.

“Part of the appeal is the location – there’s potential for some stunning views either over the neighbouring golf course or of the surrounding area including the Manchester skyline. Plus, people love the idea of being the first to live in a property and having the ability to make it their own right from the start.”

Greenside View will offer a choice of three and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached homes ranging from 919 sq.ft to 1524 sq.ft.

Initially the homes will be available “off plan”, with prices to be announced when the first properties are released for sale.

Buyers will have the chance to tailor make their home, by selecting from a superb range of high specification options including the finish of their kitchen and the bathroom tiles.

The homes at Greenside View are ideal for families as the area is well-served by a number of “outstanding” and “good” schools within walking distance. There’s a row of local shops nearby too, plus Manchester city centre is easily accessible, making the development a good choice as a commuter base.

Attached to the new homes at Greenside View, Elan has agreed a package of community investment worth more than £240,000. This comprises £149,000 towards off-site affordable housing; just over £42,000 towards classroom improvements at Rayner Stevens High School; around £26,000 towards cycling and pedestrian improvements between Yew Tree Lane and Matley Lane; plus over £23,000 towards green space improvements at Cheetham Park and connections to Yew Tree Lane.
