BUOYANT PROPERTY MARKET FUELS FELDON DUNSMORE EXPANSION
A leading commercial property law firm is moving to a new site after a thriving property market during lockdown led to record double-digit growth.
Feldon Dunsmore is moving from Coventry to a rural location on the edge of Warwick after a successful year bolstered by a property market that is stronger and more vibrant than before the pandemic.
The law firm, named for the National Character Area of Dunsmore and Feldon in which it operates, has been based in Coventry’s Binley Business Park since it launched seven years ago.
But founders Steven Petty and Paul Harrison now aim to expand into south Warwickshire and beyond by relocating to Warwick’s Leafield Estate, which forms part of the Historic Warwick Castle Park.
Steven Petty said: “The positive performance of the real estate market during COVID-19 – we increased turnover by 40% in lockdown – means we are fortunate to be in a position where we can translate our success to opportunities beyond Coventry.
“Coventry has been good to us, and this move allows us to continue serving new and existing clients in the city while capitalising on opportunities in Warwick, Leamington, Stratford-upon-Avon and the surrounding area, including north Oxfordshire.
“This is an exciting move and we are keen to discover what fresh challenges await us.”
The solicitors firm has a proud history of employing graduates who have studied locally in the past few years. Indeed, it has recruited three solicitors, a trainee, and two paralegals from Warwick University. The move will create five new job opportunities for legal professionals with more jobs in the pipeline as the firm continues to grow.
Indeed two of Feldon Dunsmore’s solicitors (Bethan Blackburn and Sophie Read) have recently been promoted to Associate. Both Warwick University graduates and have earned their promotions through dedication and hard work as well as having strong technical expertise. Sophie joined Feldon Dunsmore as a trainee after undertaking a work experience placement and Bethan joined shortly after qualifying.
Paul Harrison said: “Nurturing the next generation of local legal talent is a vital component of our success and this expansion will allow us to capitalise on a strong marketplace. Bethan and Sophie are excellent examples of how lawyers can progress through the ranks at Feldon Dunsmore. They are now both looking to further their careers with FD by taking on a mentoring role to our trainees and paralegals and continuing to get involved in business development following our move.”
Paul Harrison continued: “One of the main barriers we have faced is finding talented colleagues to enhance the high level of service and technical expertise we provide our clients and make the most out of the current buoyant commercial property market.
“A move to south Warwickshire will allow Feldon Dunsmore to attract solicitors at all levels of experience.
“The new site in Warwick gives Feldon Dunsmore – which already has one of the biggest commercial property teams in the region – the scope to double in size and secure its position as a leader in development, business leases, investment property, planning and residential.”
