Eager to find out which cities in the UK are best for a summer staycation, HeatingForce.co.uk created an index-based point system taking into consideration various social and geographical factors. These factors include annual sunshine, annual rainfall, Airbnb prices, restaurant and ice cream shop ratings, alongside access to parks and outdoor activites.*

Tips for Planning a Staycation with your Family:

Alex Ion, expert from HeatingForce.co.uk, reveals his 'ABC' tips for travelling in the UK with your family:

Activities

"As many of us have not been away for a while it is important to have an active and dynamic holiday! When travelling with a range of age groups, it is important to have access to a variety of activities making a city break perfect! With most UK cities you are never too far from rural sites for leisurely walks or challenging hikes, whilst still being based in a buzzing location with restaurants, museums and entertainment for all ages and tastes. In a recent study conducted by OnBuy.com's outdoor recreation department cities like York, Bath and Perth were named popular cities for active and diverse breaks."

Bookings

"Due to the current climate, it is important to consider where you want to visit before travelling in a larger group with your family. Do a bit of extra research beforehand and book the key places you want to eat, drink and visit during your stay. This will give you peace of mind that you won't get turned away."

Cost

"As we all know when travelling with your family budgeting is key! But don't be too ridged – allow for unseen extra costs and emergencies. If you have planned and booked activities and restaurants in advance you will be able to gauge your budget better."
